Meet the photographer
A first-person note from Maris — the hands, the eyes, and the South Carolina skies behind every print in the catalog.
I’m Maris — though most people know me as Muff. I’m self-taught, which means every photograph you see in this shop was learned the slow way: through trial, through patience, through thousands of sunsets that didn’t quite work before the ones that did.
I grew up in South Carolina and I still photograph here — the long, low light of the Piedmont, the storm clouds that roll in off the mountains, the gold that shows up for exactly four minutes before it’s gone. I’m not chasing perfection. I’m chasing real — the moment as it actually happened, because it will never happen quite that way again.
Every photograph here is mine — taken by me, on real skies, in real moments, never generated, never staged. When you bring one home, you’re supporting an independent artist who gets to keep doing the quiet thing that started this shop.
What every print supports
Original photography
Every photograph is mine — taken on real South Carolina skies, never AI, never staged.
Printed on demand
Made in the USA, freshly pressed on archival paper for each order — nothing sits in a spare room waiting to ship.
Archival pigment inks
Calibrated for fade resistance, so the print you bring home is quiet enough to live with for years.
Shipped straight from the lab
Packed at the print lab and forwarded to your door — tracking comes back through the storefront you ordered from.
Behind the lens
On the paper that holds a sunset.
Open editions print on a 230gsm archival matte — acid-free, with a slight warm cast that holds a gradient without going glossy. The Prints page shows which paper each option lands on, and what it costs framed.
On chasing the same sky twice.
No two sunsets are ever the same — the one tonight is not a rerun of last night’s. The Gallery gathers every catalog print into one wide grid, so you can wander the hour-of-the-day they belong to.
On a series that surprised me.
Some of these photographs belong together — the same hour, the same color, the same mood. Each catalog Collection pulls a handful into one quiet story you can hang as a set.
